“I often think that the night is more alive and more richly coloured than the day.” Vincent Van Gogh, 1888
The Night is a mysterious and unnerving place. You may go at great lengths to stand out from the dark of the night for security. I have been examining how an area that is indistinguishable from its surroundings is made significant in the night. A security light creates a spotlight, and illuminating this area makes this area unavoidable and forces an interaction with it, even if it just acknowledging this area. But what makes this area so significant that it needs to have a spotlight shining on it? By shining a light on one area you make it far more noticeable than any other area.
